Eastover Heritage Day
Eastover, North Carolina
(4 May 2013)
Over the past several years we have
participated in the Eastover Heritage Day Event the first
Saturday in May by providing our US Military through the
ages and firing our gun at the end of the days activities.
The Old Plank Road which was used
by General Johnston's retreating Confederate Army and also
by General Sherman's Army advancing north towards Averasboro
runs through a section of what is now called Eastover. We were invited to
participate in this event again this year by the Eastover
Civic Club but due to that evenings Wedding Rehearsal and
Lindsey's Wedding the next day, we elected to only participate in
the Eastover Heritage Day Parade on the morning of the 4th
of May. Annette Fornoff drove the truck and Captain
Stanley stood on the trailer with the gun and limber
answering questions about Civil War Artillery and the 10
Pound Parrott Rifle. Our participation was much
appreciated by the town.
